Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is the primary international airport serving the island nation of Mauritius. It is located at Plaine Magnien, 48 km (30 mi) southeast of the capital city of Port Louis.

Mechartes was appointed as a CFD Analysis consultant for the project, initially performing a simple CFD analysis on a single pole diffuser to evaluate throw length, velocity reach, and temperature distribution in a small room. After completing this preliminary study, a detailed CFD Analysis was carried out for the entire airport to assess the comfort levels as per ASHRAE 55 and optimize the design.

CFD Smoke analysis was carried out for the whole airport according to the BS 7974/PD 7974-6:2004 Standards to evaluate the tenability conditions of Smoke concentration, temperature and Visibility profiles in the event of fire. Various CFD iterations with different fire locations were performed to achieve the desired smoke extraction rate, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations.
