Equinix is a global digital infrastructure company that interconnects leading organizations across various industries, including finance, manufacturing, retail, transportation, government, healthcare, and education. Founded in Silicon Valley in 1998, and originally established as a vendor-neutral multitenant data center provider, Equinix enables secure network interconnections and data traffic exchange among top networks.

Mechartes has collaborated with various designers to optimize the efficiency of data halls through meticulous HVAC system design and optimization. Using advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations, we have conducted multiple scenarios during the design stage, including changes in equipment layout, failure scenarios, day-one analysis, and leakage analysis. After construction, Mechartes has also been involved in monitoring the performance of the design to verify its effectiveness under increased loads.

In addition, we undertook comprehensive CFD studies to evaluate the performance of equipment placement within Equinix data centers, focusing on the impact of ambient conditions on chillers and generators. Specifically, we assessed how hot flue gas emissions from generators on the ground floor could affect chiller operation under varying wind directions, speeds, and ambient temperatures, given the location of chillers on the roof.

During the construction phase, Mechartes provided critical support by conducting piping stress analyses in accordance with ASME B31.3 standards to ensure the integrity of chilled water and condenser water networks. By identifying and mitigating potential stress points, we have ensured the resilience and longevity of these critical infrastructure components.
