The main objective is, to confirm the size of the tank and design tank internals to meet process objective. Additionally, design Utility flush manifold required to fluidize the accumulated sand in De-sand and Decant tanks before truck out.
The flushing was simulated using VOF (Volume of Fluid) multiphase model to determine the optimal height which will ensure maximum jetting of sand from the De-sand tank during truck out and the flow pattern of water and its velocities.
Process design has been performed for De-sand and Decant Tanks, there is no change in dimension of the tank. No further optimization by reducing the diameter of the tank or increasing height is proposed or deemed necessary. At the inlet, a deflector plate arrangement is proposed. Based on fluidization requirement, a circular ring manifold design is proposed.
