Objective
The objective is to determine the chances of flooding inside certain pipes due to mal-distribution.
Design Approach
To simulate the mal-distribution in tube bundles, application of flow characteristics at the inlet and outlet of the computational domain has been applied as boundary conditions. As, fluid properties at inlet and boundary conditions can be determined with considerable certainty at design stage, the uncertainty in initial conditions must be addressed through CFD simulations to provide a realistic estimate of mal-distribution across tube bundles.
Conclusion:
Flow distribution inside the stationary header shows the formulation of recirculating zones inside the header, which will result in mal-distribution.
