Abu Dhabi Transmission and Despatch Company (TRANSCO) is responsible for the development, operations, and maintenance of high-voltage power and bulk water transmission networks within Abu Dhabi and beyond. TRANSCO provides secure, sustainable, economic, and reliable transmission networks that connect generation companies to distribution companies, as well as other end-users. TRANSCO is a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA).

Taweelah and Swaihan Water transmission project are the new projects handled by Transco. Mechartes supported the contractors in the project of static stress analysis of the water transmission pumping station of the Taweelah project and the Water Transmission Buried piping network for the Swaihan project.

Based on the load from the piping stress analysis thrust flange thickness was also verified. Pipe Support design for typical supports along with the weld calculations for maximum forces and moments obtained from finite element analysis were carried out. AUTOCAD drawings showing basic support design, channel size, and plate thickness were developed. The study was carried out using the ASME B31.3 standard.
