Etisalat, the largest telecommunications corporation in the GCC, headquartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE, serves 11.6 million customers and over 300,000 enterprises and government clients. For over a decade, Mechartes has been a trusted partner in Etisalat’s ambitious data center expansions, delivering specialized engineering analysis and design solutions.
Mechartes has collaborated with various designers to optimize data hall efficiency through meticulous HVAC system design and optimization. Utilizing advanced Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), we have conducted numerous design-stage scenarios, including equipment layout changes, failure scenarios, day-one analysis, and leakage analysis. Post-construction, we have assessed the performance of designs under increased loads.
We have also performed CFD analyses for mechanical and electrical rooms, including generator, DRUPS, LV, and UPS rooms, to design HVAC systems that ensure safe equipment operation. Our comprehensive CFD studies evaluated the impact of ambient conditions on chillers and generators, particularly assessing whether hot flue gas emissions from ground-level generators could affect roof-mounted chillers under varying wind conditions. Based on these analyses, we provided tailored recommendations to mitigate adverse effects on chiller performance, ensuring optimal cooling system efficiency and reliability.
During construction, Mechartes has conducted piping stress analyses according to ASME B31.3 standards, ensuring the integrity of chilled water and condenser water networks by identifying and mitigating potential stress points. Additionally, we have designed internals for Thermal Energy Storage Tanks (TES) and Buffer tanks across Etisalat facilities, integrating advanced process design and structural analysis compliant with industry standards such as ASHRAE Applications Handbook-2007, AWWA D100, and ASME B31.1. Our designs, validated through CFD analysis, have optimized energy efficiency and operational reliability during both charging and discharging cycles.
